Start Location

The start for the Großer Wilder is located at the Giebelhaus, however it is not possible to park at this location.  To access the Geibelhaus you must 1st park at the main carpark in Hinterstein (10 € per day) and then travel the 10km by bus to the Giebelhaus (4,60€ oneway), parking can be paid using the Parkster App.  Alternatively, for the hardcore amongst us cycling from Hinterstein or Bad Hindellang (14km) is also possible.

Großer Wilder Ski Tour Ascent

Follow the road from the left side of the Giebelhaus, up 2 switchbacks and then S for 3.5 km until you have reached the Point Hütte (1319m). Continue SW into Bargündletal (valley) and then climb the moderately steep N slopes just below the impressive northern walls of the Vorderer Wilden. Keep to the E side until you are under the Gamswanne. The best way to overcome the extremely steep, craggy slope is to climb up through the gully on the far left until you can cross over a craggy ridge to the right into the basin. After entering the Gamswanne another travel 100 meters in altitude (approx 2100m) in an easterly direction, to reach an easy to overcome crag at will lead you on to the NE ridge. From here follow this mostly flat ridge SW to the Summit. Alternatively: The Summit can be reached by continuing directly through the Gamswanne, which is extremely steep in places

Großer Wilder Ski Tour Descent

From the Summit drop directly into the Gamswanne in a North-Easterly direction, Caution the terrain here is extremely steep and craggy. Travel down the Gamswanne and at its nose descend through the rocks in a NNW direction back into the Bargündletal. Now NW towards the Point Hütte, then follow the path back to the Giebelhaus.
