A Ski Touring Instructor boots for past 7 years, I have had the privilege to ski all around the mountains of the European Alps and to work with some amazing people. After longs days on the hill there has been may discussions on how equipment and either hinder or promote performance. In the review I will share my insight on 6 of the best ski touring boots 2022. The review are the boots on their uphill performance, downhill performance, weight, comfort and fit, ease of use, and warmth.

A few years ago Tecinca entered the touring boot market designing boots that was basically alpine boots with tech inserts and a walk mode. However, the Zero G Pro tour is a new beast and my personal favourite. Going up the boot is remarkable light, for its class and can easily be used on multi-day tours. On the way down the boot is stiff, responsive and more like its alpine counterparts. The overall construction durable, has easy foot and comfortable enough for long days.
Whether you’re a newcomer looking to make the transition from the piste, or a seasoned pro charing up for the lines big lines. The Technica Zero G is the boot for you. Recommended: Best all round ski touring boots 2022.
Best Ski Mountaineering Boots 2022
Atomic Backland Carbon
Weight: 1030g. Bingings Cpatapilty: Tech & DIN AT
Best of Ski Mountaineering
Pro's
- High volume
- Fast bar and 1 buckle closure
- Very light weight
Con's
- High volume
- Limited downhill performance
The low priced, high performance Backland Carbon is an uphill monster. The boot performs well, is very light but suffers on skies wider than 89mm. The carbon construction looks amazing, however, the fit is the limiting to foot weigh. Narrower feet skiers will need to pull out their wallets for some customisations, increasing the boots overall cost.
Backland Carbon is an inexpensive lightweight, wide fitting touring boots, that has excellent uphill performance and will satisfy on the way down. Recommended for ski mountaineer or those starting Skimo racing.

The Scarpa F1 LT one of the most highly regarded boots on the market for its class. Redesigned from its predecessor the Scarpa Alien RS the F1 LT has been giving major overhaul. The boot is relatively high volume, comfortable. The free cuff design gives a full range of movement whilst skinning up. Flick the leaver down, lock into ski mode and the boot become stiff offering good support in most conditions. Anyone look for a fast and light boot can’t do better right now than this top award winner.
A light weight, balanced, all-around ski touring boots that is build for those who like it fast-and-light. Recommended for those that like to do fast summits and want to whoop on the way down.

A Freeride Beast
Pro's
- Excellent downhill performance
- Lightweight for class

Con's
- Locking into mode can be problematic
- No compatible if all bindings and crampons
Dynafit is known from pushing nnovation of ski mountain products. The Hoji Pro Tour once again showcases Dynafit amazing work. the boots Downhill performance is amazing and skins with relative ease. The Hoji Pro Tour is great downhill-oriented ski touring boots for those who are looking to access the steep lines on skins. The downhill performance is indeed above-standard. However, toe profile limits use to only tech bindings and the locking mechanism can cumbersome when block with snow.
An innovative boots that push the boundaries of downhill performance, but with some design and inconsistencies for use with all touring bindings. Recommended for freeriding (with tech binding).
